To help keep the platform safe, we may ask members to complete ID verification. This helps us reduce fake profiles, duplicate accounts, ghost accounts, scams and people who are not serious about building real connections.
Our goal is simple: one real person, one genuine account.
Why We Use ID Verification
Online dating and matchmaking work best when people can trust that others are who they say they are.
ID verification helps us:
Confirm that members are real people.
Reduce fake or duplicate accounts.
Prevent people from creating multiple profiles.
Discourage scams, impersonation and misuse.
Protect members from ghost accounts and time-wasters.
Build a safer and more accountable community.
Verification helps members feel more confident that the people they meet on MoyoWangu are genuine and serious.
One ID, One Account
Each verified ID can only be linked to one MoyoWangu account.
This helps prevent one person from creating several profiles to mislead others, avoid restrictions or misuse the platform.
If we discover duplicate accounts linked to the same person, we may restrict, suspend or remove those accounts.
What We May Ask For
Depending on the verification level required, we may ask you to provide:
A valid government-issued ID document.
A passport, national ID card or driving licence.
A clear photo of your face.
A short liveness check or selfie verification.
Your legal name and date of birth.
Other information needed to confirm that your account belongs to a real person.
We will only ask for verification information where it helps protect the platform, confirm eligibility or improve trust and safety.
What Verification Checks
ID verification may help us confirm:
That you are a real person.
That you are at least 18 years old.
That your account is not a duplicate.
That your profile is not impersonating someone else.
That your account information is not being used fraudulently.
Verification does not guarantee that a member is safe, compatible, honest in every area or suitable for a relationship. It is one safety tool, not a complete guarantee.
Members should still use good judgement when communicating or meeting offline.
Your ID Is Not Shown Publicly
Your ID document is used for verification and safety checks only.
We do not show your ID document, ID number, passport number, full legal name or private verification details on your public profile.
Other members will not be able to view your ID document.
Where relevant, your profile may show a verification badge or verification status, but not the private document information behind it.
How We Protect Your Information
We handle verification information carefully and use reasonable security measures to protect it.
This may include secure storage, access controls, encryption where appropriate and limiting access to authorised people or trusted verification providers.
We do not sell your ID information.
We only use verification information for purposes such as safety, fraud prevention, account protection, legal compliance, moderation and enforcing our Terms of Service.
How Long We Keep Verification Information
We keep verification information only for as long as reasonably necessary.
In some cases, we may delete ID documents after verification is complete, while keeping limited records such as verification status, account restriction records or duplicate prevention records.
We may keep limited information for longer where needed for:
Fraud prevention.
Safety and security.
Legal or regulatory reasons.
Dispute resolution.
Preventing duplicate accounts.
Investigating abuse or misuse.
Enforcing our Terms of Service.

If You Do Not Complete Verification
Some MoyoWangu features may require verification.
If you do not complete verification when requested, we may limit your access to certain features, delay approval, pause matchmaking, hide your profile or restrict account activity.
This helps us protect the wider community.
Failed or Rejected Verification
Verification may fail if:
The ID document is unclear, expired or invalid.
The document does not appear to belong to you.
The selfie or liveness check does not match the document.
The information provided is inconsistent.
The account appears to be duplicate, fake or misleading.
The document appears edited, stolen or fraudulent.
If verification fails, we may ask you to try again, provide additional information or contact support.
If we believe verification information has been falsified or misused, we may suspend or delete the account.
Respecting Your Privacy
We understand that ID verification involves sensitive personal information.
That is why we aim to collect only what is necessary, use it only for clear safety and verification purposes, and protect it carefully.
Your private identity information is not used to embarrass you, expose you or display unnecessary personal details to other members.
Verification Badges
MoyoWangu may show verification badges to help members understand whether someone has completed certain checks.
A verification badge may indicate that a member has completed email, phone, photo, liveness or ID verification.
A badge is a trust signal, but it is not a guarantee of character, compatibility, relationship success or personal safety.
Always take your time, communicate wisely and report anything suspicious.
Report Fake or Suspicious Accounts
If you believe someone is using a fake identity, stolen photos, duplicate accounts or misleading information, please report the profile.
Reports help us protect the MoyoWangu community and keep the platform safer for genuine members.
