Safety Centre
Your Safety Matters
MoyoWangu is built for real Zimbabweans who want meaningful connections rooted in honesty, culture, respect and intention.
We want members to feel confident when using the platform. The Safety Centre explains how we help protect the community, what safety tools may be available, and what you can do to stay safe while meeting new people.
MoyoWangu can support safer introductions, but every member should still use care, wisdom and good judgement when communicating or meeting offline.
Our Approach to Safety
MoyoWangu is designed to reduce fake profiles, duplicate accounts, ghost accounts, scams and unsafe behaviour.
We focus on:
Real people.
One account per person.
Clear relationship intentions.
Respectful communication.
Verification checks.
In-app chat.
Reporting and blocking tools.
Community guidelines.
Safety is not one single feature. It is a combination of technology, verification, moderation, member education and community responsibility.
Real People, One Account
MoyoWangu is for genuine people only.
Each person should only have one account. This helps reduce fake profiles, duplicate identities and people who try to mislead others.
We may use account checks, email verification, phone verification, photo verification, liveness checks or ID verification to help confirm that members are real and accountable.
Verification Checks
To help improve trust, we may ask members to complete verification.
Verification may include:
Email verification.
Phone verification.
Photo verification.
Liveness checks.
ID verification.
Verification helps us reduce fake accounts and improve confidence, but it does not guarantee that someone is safe, compatible or suitable for a relationship.
Always take your time and use your judgement.
In-App Chat
MoyoWangu encourages members to communicate inside the platform before sharing personal contact details.
In-app chat gives members a safer space to get to know each other before moving to WhatsApp, phone calls or social media.
Your phone number, WhatsApp number and email address are not automatically shown to other members.
We recommend staying inside MoyoWangu chat until you feel comfortable and confident that the other person is genuine.
Respectful Communication
Every member is expected to communicate with respect.
You must not harass, pressure, threaten, insult, shame, bully or abuse another member.
You should respect someone’s boundaries if they do not reply, decline interest, block you or say they are not interested.
No one owes you a conversation, match, reply, meeting or explanation.
Warning Signs to Watch For
Be careful if someone:
Asks for money, airtime, transport money or financial help.
Claims to have an emergency soon after meeting you.
Pushes you to move quickly to WhatsApp or another platform.
Avoids answering basic questions.
Refuses verification.
Gives inconsistent information.
Sends suspicious links.
Asks for your bank details, login codes or ID documents.
Pressures you to meet privately.
Makes you feel guilty for setting boundaries.
These may be signs of a scam, fake profile or unsafe behaviour.
Never Send Money
Never send money to someone you have met through MoyoWangu.
This includes money for:
Transport.
Airtime.
Medical emergencies.
School fees.
Family emergencies.
Business investment.
Visa costs.
Travel costs.
Rent.
Food.
Debt.
A genuine person should not pressure you for money, gifts or financial support.
If someone asks for money, report them.
Protect Your Personal Information
Be careful about what you share with someone new.
Avoid sharing:
Your home address.
Your workplace address.
Your bank details.
Your passwords.
Your login codes.
Your ID documents.
Your passport details.
Your exact daily routine.
Your children’s personal information.
Private family details.
Your financial situation.
Take your time before sharing personal contact details or sensitive information.
Reporting Unsafe Behaviour
If someone makes you feel unsafe, uncomfortable or pressured, report them to MoyoWangu.
You should report:
Fake profiles.
Duplicate accounts.
Harassment.
Threats.
Abuse.
Sexual pressure.
Requests for money.
Suspicious links.
Scams.
Impersonation.
Hate or discrimination.
Unsafe offline behaviour.
Reports help us investigate problems and protect the wider community.
Blocking Members
Blocking gives you control over who can contact you.
You may block someone if you no longer want to communicate with them.
You do not need to explain yourself.
If someone has blocked you, respect their decision. Do not try to contact them through another account, phone number, social media account or third party.
Meeting in Person
If you decide to meet someone offline, take safety precautions.
Meet in a public place.
Tell someone you trust where you are going.
Share your plans with a friend or family member.
Arrange your own transport.
Keep your phone charged.
Do not leave your drink or belongings unattended.
Do not feel pressured to go somewhere private.
Trust your instincts.
Leave if something feels wrong.
MoyoWangu helps people connect, but we do not control what members do outside the platform.
Trust Your Instincts
If something feels wrong, slow down.
You do not need to continue a conversation, share your number, meet someone or explain yourself if you feel uncomfortable.
A serious and respectful person will not pressure you, rush you or punish you for having boundaries.
Cultural Respect
MoyoWangu recognises that culture, faith, family background, tribe, language, totem, roots and values can matter deeply to members.
You may have preferences, but you must express them respectfully.
Do not mock, shame, insult or degrade another person because of their tribe, culture, language, religion, family background, location, relationship history or personal circumstances.
Culture should help people connect with understanding, not be used to disrespect others.
Photo and Profile Safety
Use genuine photos that represent you clearly and respectfully.
Do not upload stolen photos, celebrity photos, misleading photos, explicit images or photos that impersonate another person.
Do not include private contact details, banking information or sensitive personal information in your public profile.
Your profile should help people understand who you are without putting your safety at risk.
How MoyoWangu May Respond to Safety Issues
When safety concerns are reported or detected, MoyoWangu may take action.
This may include:
Reviewing the account.
Reviewing relevant profile or chat information.
Asking for verification.
Removing content.
Warning a member.
Restricting chat access.
Suspending an account.
Deleting an account.
Blocking future registrations.
Reporting serious matters to relevant authorities where required or appropriate.
The action we take depends on the seriousness of the issue and the risk to members.
Verification Is Helpful, Not a Guarantee
Verification can help reduce fake accounts and improve trust, but it is not a promise that someone is safe, honest, compatible or suitable.
A verified member can still behave badly.
Always take your time, ask questions, protect your information and report anything suspicious.
If You Feel in Immediate Danger
If you feel in immediate danger or believe a crime is happening, contact local emergency services or the relevant authorities in your country.
MoyoWangu can support platform safety, but emergency services are the right place for urgent danger, threats, violence or criminal activity.
Our Safety Promise
MoyoWangu is committed to building a safer and more trusted space for Zimbabweans around the world.
We will continue improving our safety tools, verification checks, moderation processes and member education.
Every member also has a part to play.
Be honest.
Be respectful.
Protect yourself.
Report unsafe behaviour.
Meet with intention.
